About Me

I am a wife and a mother to 3 girls. I am a Christian and love the Lord. I became a Doula and Childbirth Educator because I wanted to give other women the empowerment to choose how they want their birth experience to go. I do know that sometimes there are circumstances that things do not go as planned and interventions have to be made. As a Doula, we try to prevent this as much as possible. When I had my first daughter I did not know about Midwives or Doulas I was in labor for 24 hours and was forced to do a Cesarean Section more or less because she wasn’t coming fast enough. My other 2 girls were planned Cesarean Sections due to the Doctors did not want to do a VBAC or even try. I went into labor with all 3 of mine and then they would prep me for a Cesarean and not once did I have my Doctor I always had a on-call Doctor I did not know and could not even tell you their names or what they looked like today. With Midwives you usually see the same one all the way through and with Doula’s you always have her all the way through unless there is a serious emergency. I want women to have this choice and to have someone there to advocate for them to speak up when necessary and have the outcome they desire with the birthing experience they want. This shouldn’t be about the pain during and after but about you, your partner and your baby getting to the first time you see each other to be everything you desire. I also teach Childbirth classes and think it is very important for everyone to take a comprehensive class to know your rights, questions to ask, and be informed about what to expect with every decision you make during this process. Relaxation and knowledge is key to having a great pregnancy and birthing experience.

She is not a friend. She is not a healthcare provider. She is a mother figure of the most ancient kind. Her life experience empowers you. She is a reassuring presence who will always listen to you and support you in your chosen path. She will remind you of those choices, and the reason you made them, when you doubt, are anxious, or afraid. She sees you; the real you. Her understanding of your journey supports your self-confidence. She eases pain with a touch, a word, a look…

She is a Doula.
